Mechanic motor vehicle is a motor vehicle mechanical vocational trade. In this trade students are taught about skills like servicing, repairing and major overhauling of motor vehicle like scooter, cars, trucks, buses; maintenance, troubleshooting and electric, electronic works of all types of vehicle. This trade is very good from job point of view as it opens many career fields for them at various fields.

  • First year

Identification of tools and equipments, raw materials used

Usage of different measuring and marking tools

Maintenance of batteries, welding practise, testing and measuring of electric parameters...

Identification of different brake systems

Dismantling engines

Overhauling starter, alternator, troubleshooting of engines of LMV/HMV

  • Second year

Repair and maintenance of light and heavy vehicle transmission unit

Practise of manufacture’s approved overhauling methods

Repair and services of shackle, leaf spring, front axle, front and rear suspension........

Diagnose & rectify the defects in vehicle to ensure functionality of vehicle.

  • Students are able to :
  • Read & interpret technical parameters/documentation, plan and organize work processes, identify necessary materials and tools
  • Perform task with due consideration to safety rules, accident prevention regulations and environmental protection stipulations
  • Apply professional knowledge, core skills & employability skills while performing the job and machining work.
  • Check the job/components as per drawing for functioning identify and rectify errors in job/components.
  • Document the technical parameters related to the task undertaken.

 

  • Progression Pathway/Opportunities
  • Can appear in 10+2 examination through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for acquiring higher secondary certificate and can go further for General/ Technical education.
  • Can take admission in diploma course in notified branches of Engineering by lateral entry.
  • Can join Apprenticeship programme in different types of industries leading to National Apprenticeship certificate (NAC).
  • Can join Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) in the trade for becoming instructor in ITIs.
